Dear Puyallup Staff, Families, and Community,

This afternoon, Governor Inslee held a press conference to alert the public on the severity of the COVID-19 virus and announce steps that will be taken to slow the rate of this global pandemic.  Governor Inslee invoked emergency measures that included the order of school closures in Pierce, King and Snohomish counties starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020 – Friday, April 24, 2020.    The Puyallup School District has determined to include, Monday, March 16, 2020 in this ordered school closure.  To reiterate, all Puyallup schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 – Friday, April 24, 2020.

This message is to update you of important decisions the Puyallup School District has made to enact the Governor’s order to close schools.  We recognize that this order creates hardships in our community. However, these measures will reduce exposure and spread of COVID-19.

The following measures are in effect starting Monday, March 16, 2020 until further notice. We will continue to provide updates whenever we have new information to share.

A message from Right At School: “We understand how challenging the school closure situation is. Historically, when schools have unforeseen closures, Right At School cannot operate. We are actively investigating if there is a way to safely and responsibly serve families. As soon as we have more information to share, we will do so.”
8. Student Learning Resources and Activities – Starting Thursday, March 20, 2020, District employees will be available to support the educational needs of our students by preparing and offering learning resources and activities that reinforce and maintain learning that has occurred to date.  These learning resources and activities are not meant to be a substitute for classroom instruction but will help students practice their skills and learn independently during the closure.  District employees will be in contact with students and families next week with details about access and availability of these learning resources and activities throughout the closure of schools, including: Advanced Placement testing and support, graduation requirements for seniors, etc.  Learning resources and activities may include paper packets, online digital programs, live video streaming, recorded lessons, etc.
