Rogers High School sophomore, Lexi Bonner, was recognized recently by the Sertoma Foundation for her contribution to the deaf and hard of hearing community. Sertoma is a service club focused on improving the quality of life for those at risk or impacted by hearing loss through education and support. Our American Sign Language (ASL) classes at Emerald, Rogers, and Puyallup high schools supported Sertoma Christmas Food baskets this year, but one student, Lexi Bonner, went above and beyond.

Lexi started her own business when she was only 11 years old called, “Lexis Got Cake” for the sole purpose of raising money to help others. A portion of her proceeds go to charity all throughout the year, however her cupcake fundraisers are 100% for charity.

This last year, Lexi’s cupcakes supported Sertoma’s Christmas Food Baskets where she made and sold over 40 dozen cupcakes and dog treats to raise funds totaling $600 which helped provide toys to over 100 children for the holidays.

Lexi’s is passionate about donating to kids, specifically through toy drives that support pediatric cancer patients and their siblings at Seattle Children's Hospital. As a childhood cancer survivor herself, she has fond memories receiving gifts at Seattle Children’s Hospital and strives to bring the same joy to others. That is in fact exactly what she has done.
