The public is invited to tour Millie, PSD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) STEAM Mobile Innovation Lab at the Puyallup Farmer’s Market on May 21 from 9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Millie is a science lab on wheels where students explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) related career fields.
During the Farmer’s Market Millie will be parked at the PSD Education Service Center, 302 2nd St SE, and directional signs will be placed along Meridian. Visitors are encouraged to explore the lab. The Millie team will present our “Adventures of the Roaming Sock” activities, which are geared toward students between 3-13 years old, though people of all ages will find something they enjoy.
Millie travels to PSD schools where individual classes visit the lab on ‘field trips.’ The lessons are tied to grade-level curriculum and the core academic courses and allow students to explore different CTE career pathways they can take once they reach high school. Millie is geared for next-generation science standards and makes connections between future careers and technical education pathway programs.
