The Puyallup School District is proud to recognize African American History Month as a way to educate and highlight the lasting contributions and accomplishments that Black Americans have made throughout history, and in turn raise awareness about the diversity of our own school district and community. Read the School Board Proclamation.
Although this month is an opportunity for students to learn about and honor the many achievements of black Americans, our teaching and learning recognizes the rich cultural heritage, triumphs and adversities of all races - black Americans, Hispanics, native Americans, and Asians. This month as we reflect on black history in schools, we will continue to strive to make our schools inclusive, safe spaces where all students identify and excel.
