Employee information regarding COVID-19
Our team of Human Resource professionals embraces a shared commitment to serve our staff and schools through competent and caring customer service. Our core services include recruitment, hiring and retention, staffing, performance management, substitute services, employee leaves and workplace injuries, compensation, labor relations, contract negotiations, and regulatory compliance.

The Human Resources Department actively seeks to recruit and retain a qualified, diverse workforce to support the educational experience and academic success of our 22,487 students. The District collaborates with 11 employee unions. We employ nearly 3000 regular employees and 700 substitute employees, both certificated and classified. Certificated employees include positions that require an appropriate authorization/credential (i.e.: teacher, counselor, psychologist, speech therapist, principal, etc.). Classified employees include non-instructional positions such as office staff, custodial/grounds, nutrition services, paraeducators, bus drivers, etc.

The District provides equal employment opportunity and treatment for all applicants and employees in recruitment, hiring, retention, assignment, transfer, promotion and training. Such equal employment opportunity is provided to qualified individuals without discrimination with respect to race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, marital status, honorably discharged veteran or military status, or the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability.

Our policies, regulations and collective bargaining agreements provide a structure that ensures fair, honest, and non-discriminatory employment practices. We look for potential employees who possess a heart for children, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and an ability to support a high level of academic excellence.

The District is committed to hiring and retaining a workforce that is representative of our students and community at large. Our team is committed to establishing and fostering a work environment that is based on respect, support, collaboration and appreciation. We value the collective efforts of all staff members in support of student achievement.
