Washington state law requires all students attending public schools to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, measles, mumps, hepatitis B, varicella and rubella before registering for school. Free immunizations are available for children birth to 18 years old. Shot records are required and children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Free Pierce County immunization sites are listed on the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department website.
