PSD Academic and Student Well-Being Recovery Plan

All school districts in Washington State are required to create and submit an Academic and Student Well-being Recovery Plan by June 1, 2021. The goal of the plan is to identify which students and student groups need additional academic and well-being supports, define how those supports will be provided, and plan for recovery and acceleration of student learning and well-being over the summer, into the fall, and beyond.

In addition, districts are required to use an equity analysis tool in the development of the plan.  This work is ongoing.  A draft of the equity analysis framework can be accessed here.  Stakeholder feedback is paramount in this process.  As such, survey measures will be implemented in the fall to amplify the voices of stakeholders and obtain meaningful feedback from students, families, and staff.

In March, the District asked families to participate in a Recovery Plan survey asking respondents to weigh in on how recovery resources should be allocated.  Most survey respondents agreed that providing mental health services and addressing learning loss should be the primary focus.

This plan includes identifiable resources to support students in a variety of ways to help academic recovery and acceleration of student learning.  Supports for students of all groups, in all ethnicities, may be adjusted based on future needs.  Currently resources include summer learning opportunities, remote learning options for interested families, support for students experiencing learning loss and credit retrieval, and mental health supports
