Puyallup High students accepted to UW Tacoma - learn more

University of Washington Tacoma welcomed high school seniors from Emerald Ridge, Puyallup, and Rogers high schools this week during information sessions held at each school. The students met the admission criteria, completed an application to UW Tacoma, and received automatic acceptance to the four-year school. There will be a session for Rogers students who have qualified on Monday, March 9.

The Pathway to Promise partnership between the Puyallup School District and UW Tacoma began in 2013. Since then, 248 students from Puyallup schools have been accepted for admission to UW Tacoma through the program.

To be considered for automatic admission to UW Tacoma students need to meet the following four criteria:

  • 2.7 or higher grade point average
  • 510 math and 540 evidence-based reading writing
  • Completion of all CADRS by the time they graduate from high school
  • A well-written personal statement and activities log

The Pathway to Promise partnership is the first program of its kind in Washington State. The program formalizes a partnership between a four-year institution and public school districts providing greater access to post high school opportunities.
