
A
new superintendent to lead the district into the next decade is
scheduled to be named by the Puyallup School Board as soon
as January 31, 2020.
The
following six candidates have been invited to interview as the board moves
through the search process. They
will hold preliminary public interviews on January 25:
• 8:00 a.m. Dr. Shaun Carey, Deputy Superintendent, Franklin Pierce School
District
• 9:00 a.m. Dr. Joshua Almy, Deputy Superintendent, Issaquah School District
• 10:00 a.m.
Dr. John Polm,
Superintendent, Port Townsend School District
• 11:00 a.m.
Dr. Deborah Rumbaugh, Executive Director
of Instructional Leadership, Highline Public
Schools
• 1:00 p.m. Dr. Jennifer Bethman, Assistant
Superintendent for Secondary Education, Bethel School District
• 2:00 p.m. Dr. Christine Moloney, Chief Academic
Officer, Puyallup School District
The
community is invited to attend these semifinalist interviews on
January 25, 2020 at Ferrucci Junior High, 3213 Wildwood Park Drive, Puyallup.
The
board will interview each semifinalist in front of a live audience. Each
candidate will have 50 minutes. Audience feedback forms will be available and
collected for the board. At the conclusion of
the semi-finalist interviews, the board will meet in Executive
Session to determine up to three finalists for the position.
Once the finalists are selected, they will be invited
to spend a day in the district. One finalist will
be featured each day. Candidates will participate individually in evening community
forums scheduled from 6-7 p.m. on January 28, 29, and 30 at
Ballou Junior High, 9916 136th St. E., Puyallup. Audience feedback
forms will be available. The board will then meet in Executive Session with
each candidate for their final interview.
A formal announcement of the superintendent selection is
expected to occur at a short open public meeting on
Friday, January 31 at 9:00 a.m. at the Education Service Center.
