06-02-14: Annie B. 2-Miler annual fun run/walk is Monday, June 2
Walkers and runners of all ages will raise money on June 2 during the 2014 Annie B. 2-Miler fun run/walk at Sparks Stadium.
The annual event is from 3 to 6 p.m. at Sparks Stadium, 601 7th
Ave. S.W. in Puyallup. Registration will be taken at the gate on event
day, and the first 150 registered will receive a free T-shirt. Cost to
participate is $20 per adult and $10 per student.
Walkers
and runners have separate lanes during this non-timed event, and the
facility is wheelchair and stroller accessible. For the safety of all
participants, no dogs, skates, or bikes are allowed on the track.
Money
raised goes to InvestED, a foundation which makes the money available
to the Puyallup School District to support the needs of homeless and
low-income junior high and high school students. The funds pay for items
such as shoes, coats, glasses, sports equipment, and academic fees.
The
Annie B. 2-Miler fun run/walk was organized in 2010 to honor long-time
teacher, counselor, and former district student Annie Boulet, who died
unexpectedly in December 2009.
The
event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Daffodil Valley in
partnership with Ferrucci Junior High and the Puyallup School District.
