07-30-14: Remember to vote in the August 5 Primary Election
Posted on 07/30/2014

Primary Election day statewide is Tuesday, August 5.

Washington state is all vote-by-mail. Ballots were mailed on Friday, July 18 and may be mailed (postmarked by August 5) or dropped off in a “Vote-By-Mail Ballot Drop Box” located throughout Pierce County.

Drop boxes are open 24 hours, seven days a week, and close at 8 p.m. on election night. No postage is necessary for ballots deposited in drop boxes.

Drop boxes within the Puyallup School District are located at:

  • Puyallup Library, 324 South Meridian, Puyallup
  • South Hill Library, 15420 Meridian Ave. E., Puyallup
  • Edgewood City Hall, 2224 104th Ave. E., Edgewood

Voting centers are available throughout Pierce County to provide special assistance to voters, especially those with disabilities. The voting centers, including one located inside the Puyallup Library, will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day (August 5).

The voting centers offer touch screen voting machines for those who need them to cast their vote, and staff will be on hand to answer questions about topics such as provisional ballots and voter registration. The centers are not polling places.

People with mobile devices can download from the Internet a “Pierce County MyVote” application to get the following information:

  • Voter registration information, including changes such as address or name.
  • Locate the closest ballot drop box and get driving directions.
  • View a sample of the current election ballot.
  • Confirm when the ballot is received at the Pierce County Elections Division and verify there are no problems (the most common problem is a missing signature). Site users may also view their voting history.
  • View a list of federal, state, and county representatives and access contact information for elected officials.
