Students and staff throughout the school district showcased educational programs and treated fair-goers to hands-on activities
during Education Day at the Fair on September 10 at the Washington State Fair. (View slideshow).
Stage events began with an opening ceremony featuring the
presentation of colors by Rogers High School JROTC members Conner
Landon, Brandon Murray, Pamela Stephenson, and Cheyenne Sweet.
The ceremony was immediately followed with the first stage performance of the day by the Puyallup High School Orchestra, led by
Director Todd Giltner.
The stage was filled throughout the day by elementary, junior high, and high school vocal, band, orchestra, and drum groups. The
Emerald Ridge and Puyallup high school cheer and dance groups also performed.
In addition to the stage performances, information booths in the
Pavilion building featured educational displays and hands-on activities
from around the district.
Information and demonstrations highlighted student learning taking
place in various Career and Technical Education high school magnet
programs such as Culinary Arts, Automotive, Aviation, Medical Careers
Academy, and Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) Academy.
Students and staff members in other booths also shared information
about equity and achievement; assessment, accountability, and student
success; logistics and nutrition services; visual arts; transportation;
Indian Education; technology services; and Communities In Schools of
Puyallup.
