Communities In Schools of Puyallup (CISP) is seeking 44 more
volunteers to tutor elementary students enrolled in its Good Samaritan
Readers program.
The program serves students identified by teachers as needing extra
help with reading skills in grades one through three at Karshner,
Stewart, and Sunrise elementary schools, and in grades one and two at
Waller Road and Pope elementary schools.
Volunteers are asked to commit to one hour a week on a set schedule
between October and June. Tutoring sessions are generally held between
10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
CISP has already assigned 106 tutors this fall and needs 44 more to
pair with all students identified as needing extra reading help, said
Executive Director Jan Mauk.
If interested in volunteering, contact CISP at (253) 840-8917. The
next Good Samaritan Readers tutor training is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, September 30.
