A La Carte Menu Nutrient Analysis
Any food can cause an allergic reaction, but, according
to the Allergy and Asthma Foundation, only eight foods cause nine out of ten
reactions. They are milk, soy, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and
shellfish. Puyallup School District food service does not serve any items
containing shellfish. All items that contain nuts are noted on published
menus. Since milk, soy, eggs, and wheat are common components within many
products; we will make every effort to help inform students of specific foods
whose ingredients may pose them problems. Students and/or parents with
allergy concerns should request a copy of menu item ingredients, from the food
& nutrition office (841-8773), prior to ingesting any menu item for their
own protection. Menu and nutrient analysis information is available on
the district web site at https://www.puyallup.k12.wa.us
under the ‘lunch menus’ tab. According to the Allergy and Asthma
Foundation, when a severe allergic condition exists, it is in the patient’s
best interest to maintain consistent vigilance to avoid ingesting problematic
foods. USDA requires that food service staff provide complete menu
components, to every patron, unless the student is designated disabled & a
physician has submitted a USDA diet order form with the parents request to make
menu modifications for their disabled student. For more information and
