Posted on 12/19/2013

Highly capable students in grades six through eight who are interested in testing to determine their eligibility into the district’s Puyallup Accelerated Gifted Education (PAGE) program in the 2014-15 school year must apply by Friday, January 10.

Applications are available in schools and other district offices, as well as on the Highly Capable Programs Web page.

Parents and students who want to learn more about the PAGE program may attend an information meeting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on January 8 at Kalles Junior High. The school is located at 501 7th Ave. S.E., Puyallup.

The PAGE program, open to junior high students in grades seven through nine, offers courses with a higher level of rigor, depth, breadth, and acceleration than what is possible in the junior high honors program.

The program is offered at Kalles Junior High School.

Highly capable students in grades three through six are served through the QUEST regional elementary program located at eight host schools throughout the district.

March 10 is the next deadline to submit an application to be tested for the QUEST program for the 2014-15 school year.

Testing will take place shortly after each application deadline, and families are notified, usually by mail, of their testing appointment.

QUEST offers specialized instruction and curriculum designed to promote higher-level thinking and to provide a variety of learning experiences to challenge highly capable students in a full-time classroom environment.

The program is offered to students districtwide at eight host sites: Brouillet, Maplewood, Meeker, Northwood, Pope, Shaw Road, Sunrise, and Zeiger elementary schools.
