Kindergarten
registration begins the evening of March 18 for students who will enter
the district for the first time in fall 2014.
Evening registration will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18.
Daytime
registration begins on Wednesday, March 19 and continues through the
remainder of the school year. Check with local schools for daytime
registration hours, as times may vary.
Parents
of all students entering kindergarten should register at their
neighborhood school or at the school near their daycare center. Early
registration is necessary to plan for appropriate staffing levels.
Kindergarten
registration packets are available at elementary schools the week prior
to registration but will not be accepted until registration begins.
The following are required at the time of registration:
•
Proof of the child’s birthday, such as a birth certificate. Children
must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2014 to be eligible to
register for kindergarten. The district does not test for early
entrance.
• Proof of address (recent utility bill, lease agreement, etc.).
• Proof that the child has had the state required immunizations, including the dates given.
The
district offers half-day kindergarten this 2013-14 school year at 18 of
its 21 elementary schools and full-day kindergarten at Stewart,
Spinning, and Firgrove elementary schools. Beginning in fall 2014, all
21 elementary schools in the district will provide full-day
kindergarten in place of the half-day program.
