Communities In Schools of Puyallup (CISP) will host its 7th Annual "Friendraiser" Breakfast and Auction on Wednesday, March 28.

The event begins at 7:15 a.m. at the Puyallup Fair and Events Center Pavilion, 110 Ninth Ave. S.W. Cost is $50 per person at the door.

Keynote speaker will be national Communities In Schools President Daniel Cardinali, who has led the non-profit organization since 2004.

The event will also feature the surprise announcement of this year’s student and educator Citizen of the Year. The annual award recognizes those who are passionate about giving service to their schools and community.

CISP is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year and will share a slideshow featuring activities and events over the past decade. Puyallup School District Connections newsletter articles documenting the organization’s history will also be displayed.

The organization partners with the Puyallup School District to provide services such as Wednesday after-school programs and tutoring for struggling readers. It also coordinates events such as back-to-school supply drives, March Gladness community service projects, and districtwide disaster relief collections.

Jamie Gregory, major gifts officer with the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, will serve as master of ceremonies and auctioneer during a live fundraiser auction. A silent auction also will be held with opportunities to bid on numerous items donated by the community. Money raised will support CISP programs.

The Rogers High School JROTC Color Guard will present the colors, and the Puyallup High School Jazz Combo will perform the national anthem.

Student artwork from a Wednesday after-school art program hosted by Payette’s School of Dance will also be on display.
