A high school bookkeeper, a junior high school paraeducator who works with English language learners, and an elementary school facility operations manager are this year’s Puyallup School District Classified School Employees of the Year.

ImageEmerald Ridge High bookkeeper Kim Gustainis, Stahl Junior High paraeducator Chantelle Guzman, and Northwood Elementary facility operations manager Vicki Needham received cheers and standing ovations as Superintendent Tim Yeomans announced their awards at schoolwide staff meetings.

The three employees were selected for recognition following a nomination process in which district staff and community members were invited to submit Imagenames for consideration.

The awards program recognizes the work of school and district classified staff members who have made a positive difference in their profession. The nomination form states they should be employees “who consistently demonstrate outstanding work performance, professional leadership, and collaboration.”

The three honorees will be formally recognized at a Puyallup School Board meeting in March.

The winners also will be featured in the April issue of the Connections newspaper, which is mailed to every household in the district and posted on the website. Image
