04-27-12: Testing calendar updated for math and biology end-of-course exams

An updated testing calendar is available that lists math and science end-of-course exams and retake test dates in May for students in grades 7-12, including those enrolled in the Puyallup Online Academy.

The math end-of-course exams will be given to students enrolled in Algebra 1 or Geometry and those who previously took the tests in those subjects and did not meet standard. Students will be notified if they will be participating in end-of-course math exams.

End-of-course math exams for high school debuted statewide in spring 2011 and replaced the math High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE).

The testing calendar also lists dates for the new state-required end-of-course exam in biology, which will be given this spring to every tenth grader in Washington.

Beginning with the Class of 2015, students must pass a biology end-of-course exam to graduate from high school. In that same year, students will be required to pass two math end-of-course exams (Algebra 1 and Geometry) or a state-approved alternative to graduate.
