06-12-12: Recommended administrative changes announced

Tim Yeomans, who officially assumes the role of Puyallup School District superintendent on July 1, recommends the school board consider on June 25 a number of modifications to the school district’s leadership structure.

The changes would be effective July 1, 2012.

The June 25 school board meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Ballou Junior High School, 9916 136th St. E., Puyallup.

Recommended changes in administrative titles or new hires, listed in alphabetical order:

Randy Averill, executive director of technology services; currently director of information technology.

Casey Cox, assistant superintendent of instructional and organizational alignment; currently chief academic officer of Regional Learning Community #3.

Gerald Denman, chief equity and achievement officer; currently executive director of diversity affairs.

Kathy Ehman, chief special services officer; currently assistant superintendent in the Sedro-Woolley School District. She will replace Kris Lenke, who is retiring after seven years of service in this district.

Brian Fox, executive director of communications, information, and arts education; currently director of instructional leadership (arts, social studies, world languages, and highly capable programs). He will replace Karen Hansen, executive director of communications, who is retiring after 31.9 years of service in this district.

Rudy Fyles, chief operations officer; currently executive director of education support and operations.

Mark Knight, director of instructional leadership (social studies, world languages, and highly capable programs); currently high school principal in the Fife School District.

Corine Pennington, chief financial officer; currently executive director of business services.

Fredrika (Deka) Smith, chief academic officer for Regional Learning Community #2; currently executive director of teaching and learning in the Mukilteo School District and former assistant superintendent in the Meridian School District.

Chrys Sweeting, assistant superintendent of instruction, learning, curriculum, and assessment; currently assistant superintendent of student programs, curriculum, and assessment.

Leadership positions that will not change in title but may have a change in some duties:

Amy Eveskcige, chief academic officer of Regional Learning Community #3.

Lynne Rosellini, chief academic officer of Regional Learning Community #1.

Lorraine Wilson, assistant superintendent of human resources.

Abigail Chandler, assistant principal at Firgrove and Woodland elementary schools; currently assistant principal at Brouillet and Zeiger elementary schools.

Andrea Drake, full-time assistant principal at Zeiger Elementary School; currently assistant principal at Carson Elementary School.

Michelle Fox, full-time assistant principal at Edgerton Elementary School; currently assistant principal at Pope and Edgerton elementary schools.

Heather McMullen, full-time assistant principal at Brouillet Elementary School; currently assistant principal at Wildwood and Sunrise elementary schools.

Almai Malit-Idler, principal of Wildwood Elementary School; currently assistant principal at Firgrove Elementary School.

Glenn Malone, director of assessment and accountability; currently principal at Wildwood Elementary School. He replaces Nancy Arnold, who is retiring after 6.9 years in this district.

Jeannine Medvedich, full-time assistant principal at Carson Elementary School; currently half-time assistant principal at Woodland Elementary School.

Open positions:

Half-time assistant principal at Pope and Sunrise elementary schools.
