Hundreds
of Puyallup School District students, including Daffodil Festival Queen
Marissa Modestowicz and three local high school princesses,
participated in the 81st Annual Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Parade on April 5.

Modestowicz,
a senior at Emerald Ridge High School, presided over the parade on the
Royal Daffodil Court float. She was crowned queen in March during the
annual Daffodil Festival Queen's Coronation ceremony.
Joining
her in waving to the thousands of community members lining the parade
route were 24 princesses from throughout Pierce County high schools.
Puyallup School District princesses include Sydney Brown of Rogers High,
Kimberly White of Puyallup High, and Kiasa Sims of Emerald Ridge High.

Junior
high and high school bands from each of the school district’s three
regional learning communities, as well as cheer and pom teams, also
joined the parade lineup in Puyallup. The district decided to combine
the bands by region this year because the parade was held during Spring
Break.
The
Rogers High School JROTC and dance team also joined the more than 125
Puyallup parade entries, including marching bands, dignitaries,
equestrian units, Educators of the Year from the three local high
schools, and floats decorated with thousands of fresh-cut daffodils.
The
Daffodil Parade is held each year on the Saturday before the start of
the Washington State Spring Fair in Puyallup. The school district will
host a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Showcase this
year, as well as the annual Honoring Cultures Diversity Celebration, in
conjunction with the Spring Fair.
