Michele Bledsoe

Recently, Puyallup School District Director of Equity and Social Emotional Wellness Michele Bledsoe earned the 2023 Washington School Counselor Association (WSCA) District Director/Administrator Award.

The WSCA is a professional organization representing over 1,000 Washington state school counselors, school counselor educators, and graduate students. According to the WSCA website, the purpose of the award is to recognize a supervisor or director whose leadership and outstanding services have had a positive impact on the guidance and counseling field for counselors on a local or state level.

One of the PSD School Counselors, who nominated Bledsoe, had this to say in their nomination:

To call her an asset to our district is an understatement. She’s a leader and innovator of the highest caliber who thinks compassionately and creatively to create systems that will provide the foundation for mental health services in our school district for years to come. She’s the epitome of a servant leader and authentically serves and inspires school counselors and stake holders to create a community of apathy, equity, and wellness. I cannot think of a better person to receive this year’s award.

Bledsoe says the PSD Counselors are an exceptional group of educators who care deeply about students, families and staff in our community.

"I am honored to support them and humbled by this award," Bledsoe said. "It is a privilege to work with school counselors because their presence is so important in our schools."

Congratulations to Michele for this amazing statewide recognition!
