The Bell Time Task Force continues to analyze possible bell time change scenarios as a result of transportation inefficiencies districtwide. Chartered with recommending efficient bus routes, the task force aims to improve the overall bus riding experience while ensuring all students have equitable access to programs.
Possible bell time scenarios include the following:
Scenario One:
This scenario is plausible and closely aligns with the current bell time model. This model will require additional staffing to balance student loads and increase on-time performance.

Scenario Two:
This scenario is plausible given current staffing levels and allows a greater reutilization of school buses to complete multiple runs within each morning and afternoon route. The goal in this scenario would be to use each school bus at least three times every morning and afternoon to increase efficiencies.

Scenario Three:
This scenario is plausible given current staffing levels and allows for a greater reutilization of school buses within each morning and afternoon route. With this scenario, however, there are challenges to address such as junior high school students participating in high school advanced classes and athletics.

Scenario Four:
This scenario is not plausible given current staffing levels due to run times interfering with each other. Approximately 50 more bus drivers would need to be hired before the start of the 2023-24 school year. This scenario is extremely challenging given the nationwide bus driver shortage and its impact at the local level.

The next round of community engagement opportunities will occur in March, with a recommendation to the School Board in April that would consist of significant bell times changes districtwide to be implemented in the fall.
