Rogers Girls Bowling Captures 4A Academic State Title

Earlier this month, the Rogers High School (RHS) Girls Bowling Team was recognized as the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) 4A Academic State Champions with a combined 3.8 GPA.

Also known as the Scholastic Awards Program, according to the WIAA website, it recognizes and rewards those teams or groups that maintain a high collective academic standard.

Members of the RHS Girls Bowling Team are:

10th Grade

11th Grade

  • Ella Collins
  • Kiersten Engelhart

12th Grade

  • Ashley Beauvais
  • Mykayla Bunch
  • Alexis Hughes

Beauvais says it was important that she and the rest of the team supported each other academically as much as they did on the bowling lanes.

"We encouraged each other to work hard in class by being able to connect during bowling and sharing those connections at school," Beauvais said. "Being able to support each other with things like studying, sharing notes, or helping answer any questions we had with each other in ways we would not have been able to if it weren't for bowling."

Baker says the academic accomplishment is special for the entire team.

"No matter how smart we are on the lanes, we are smart in the classroom, and that’s what is most important," Baker said. "Hold yourself to high standards no matter where you are in life. Always tell people you believe in them."

Join us in congratulating RHS Girls Bowling Team for this amazing achievement!
