The accomplishments of student athletes and coaches for the 2021-22 Spring Athletic Season were highlighted at the June 6 School Board meeting. The teams, individuals, and coaches of those who won state championships this past season were presented by Jim Meyerhoff, Director of Instructional Leadership, Athletics, Health, & Fitness.
Meyerhoff noted that student participation in athletics and extracurricular activities are an important component of the development of the whole child/student. The WIAA recognizes team cumulative grade point averages with Distinguished or Outstanding designations. There were 21 out of 21 teams from the spring season who earned those academic honors. Eleven teams had a combined GPA of 3.0-3.49 to earn Distinguished designation and 10 teams had a cumulative GPA over 3.5 and earned the Outstanding designation.
