Although the Feb. 9 recommendation issued from the State Superintendent of Public Instruction urges state officials to lift the statewide masking requirement for students, facemasks are still required in all Puyallup School District schools and facilities per WA State Department of Health (DOH) requirements.  A removal of the statewide mask mandate would allow local health officials the authority to provide updated masking guidance to schools.
 We will continue to closely monitor decisions made at the state and local level and will communicate a change in school masking requirements when guidance is updated.  Moving to mask free or optional masking learning environments will continue to be dependent on health official guidance and the latest transmission in schools.
