COVID-19: A message from the Puyallup School Board - read the message

Dear PSD Staff:

As we adjust to a new way of "doing school," we hope you have been able to care for yourselves and your families.  For many of you, it must feel very strange to have empty classrooms, hallways, and buses.  We know you miss the daily interaction with students and the relationships that are so critical for the growth and learning of our students.

As with our healthcare workers and first responders, you are part of the essential services that support our children and families.  We want to express our deepest appreciation for your selfless care and service in these difficult times.  We have heard from parents who were extremely grateful for the constant updates and communications from the district, principals, and teachers, especially the individual calls from teachers. Your care and love for your students are touching families during these uncertain times.

The greatest concern after the closure of our schools was food service for our students.  We are grateful to all who make it possible to offer meal service throughout our district.  We appreciate the staff who are stepping out of their normal roles to provide childcare so that healthcare workers and first responders can continue to do the critical work needed in our community.  We thank our custodial staff for continuous cleaning and disinfecting of our buildings so that you stay healthy as you work.

As we navigate this crisis together, know that your dedication is changing the lives of our children and families, and impacting our entire community.  We are grateful for each of you -- you are what makes PSD great.  Please stay healthy.

With gratitude,

The Puyallup School Board
