The student lunch and breakfast meal program have changed to a Monday only pick-up beginning April 6. Students will receive a five-day meal pack containing breakfasts and lunches.

New lunch/breakfastThe five-day packs are available each Monday through the end of the school year. Locations and times remain the same, at all elementary schools from 11 a.m. – 12 noon.

The district estimates 50,000 meals will be provided on Mondays. The meals are handed out curbside for drive thru Grab & Go, or students may walk-up to pick them up. Procedures are in place for social distancing while meals are handed out.

The five-day meal packs contain nonperishable items and a bag of frozen entrees that can be heated up in the oven or microwave. Lunch items include Heat and Eat entrees, assorted fruits, fruit or veggie cup, and milk. Breakfasts include cereal or breakfast bar, fruit or juice, and milk.

The transition to once-a-week pickup is necessary for sustainability. It saves parents the time and expense of driving to school every day and is a great help to dedicated food service staff. They have been working hard to keep up with the labor-intensive daily preparation and delivery of meals five days a week.
