Special Services

Students will continue to receive special education services in their areas of eligibility as outlined within their IEP. English Language Learners and students identified for services in LAP or Title I will continue to receive support and services as recommended by their proficiency level. 

 

AVID students will continue to receive AVID in-class support. General education and AP teachers will collaborate with AVID teachers to provide needed assistance.

 

Special education, English language, and AVID teachers will collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations/ modifications are implemented.

 

Special Education:

• Students will continue to receive special education services in their areas of eligibility as outlined within their individualized Education Plan (IEP).

• Potential plans for in person small group instruction are being considered related to student’s IEP and adherence to the Department of Health safety guidelines.
• 
Special education staff will collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations/modifications are implemented in asynchronous and synchronous learning.

 

English Language Learners:
• 
Secondary and High School ELL teachers and para educators will create a weekly schedule for students to provide support for English learners per week based on student proficiency levels and class size.

a. Collaborate with general education teachers to meet student needs regularly and support students effectively to help them reach proficiency.

b. EL educators may join general education teacher class sessions to support students in small groups.

c. Teachers may combine classes virtually to avoid redundancy or schedule students individually to create a safe environment.

d. ELL educators will advocate for students and their families to support their academic and social emotional needs.
Newcomer and Emergent students need to receive 26 minutes per day EL instruction.

• Progressing students will receive virtual language instruction in addition to classroom support if needed with general education teachers. Progressing students are serviced a minimum of 3 sessions per week.
 Proficient students are regularly monitored through grades and IPRs.
