Girls Soccer

The PHS Girls Soccer team advanced to the State Semi-Finals with two wins last week – both over SPSL opponents as there were five SPSL teams that made the state playoffs. The first state game was on Wednesday, 2-1 over Curtis HS. On Saturday the Vikings travelled to Sumner HS for a third meeting against the Spartans. After a scoreless first half, PHS got on the board at the 52nd minute mark. Sumner tied the game in the 68th minute and regulation time ended. As the end of the first overtime period neared, the ball in front of the net found Kaelee Huetten who put the game winner away.

The Viks return to Sparks Stadium this weekend where they will play Gonzaga Prep at 8 pm on Friday. A win puts PHS in the state finals at 4 pm Saturday, or a loss will mean a 12 pm game for third place.

Emerald Ridge will play Eastlake on Friday, 11:45 am at the Yakima SunDome.

Puyallup also qualified for state as the WCD #6 seed. PHS beat Kennedy on Friday before losing to Tahoma in five sets. That setup a fourth matchup with Rogers this season with the winner heading to state. The Vikings defeated the Rams, then followed up with a win over Camas.
