WIAA State Soccer at Sparks – State
Soccer Bracket
The Puyallup Boys Soccer team finished a great season
by winning the 4A STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP held at Sparks Stadium. In the Friday night semifinal
game, the Viks won 4-0 over Jackson. In Saturday’s championship game, PHS went
in to halftime trailing Mt. Si 1-0 after some missed opportunities. Coming out
in the second half, the Viks tied the game on a goal by Andrew Irby off a deflected
ball near the goal. Still tied as the end of regulation neared (about a minute
to go!), Mt. Si committed a foul near the goal that gave PHS a free kick and a
chance to take the lead, and Logan Oyama delivered with the game winner in the
upper right corner. It was an exciting and dramatic finish to the season.
