The evening of
Saturday, November 24, 2018 at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver did not end as the
Puyallup High School Vikings had hoped.
The Vikings
had a stellar season and were fighting their way to another championship. The Vikings carried the lead into the second half when suddenly the top-ranking Union
Titans scored three touchdowns, defeating the Viking’s 35-28 in the
final minutes of the game.
The Viking team
began training with coaches and volunteers for this year’s season back in
January 2018. Their commitment paid off. The obvious physical agility, stamina,
and strength the Vikings possess makes them true athletes, proven by their
successful season. Through the many hours and days of training, practices, and
games, the athletes created deep bonds of family and brotherhood that will last
a lifetime.
To family,
friends, school, and community these athletes are true champions.
“The Viking football program would like to thank the staff
and students at PHS, parents and friends, and the community for their
outstanding support throughout this season. When you make the commitment that
our players and coaches made, and people respond as positively as they did, it
makes for a pretty special situation.”
said Head Coach Gary Jeffers.
These athletes
are committed to the team and coaches. They will take a short break before returning to the gym Monday to begin training for next season.
The Puyallup
School District is proud of the successful season of the Puyallup High School
Vikings.
Director of
Instructional Leadership, Athletics, Health and Fitness, Jim Meyerhoff will be
presenting this season's outstanding athletes across the district for their
accomplishments to the Board of Directors at the regularly scheduled board
meeting on Monday, December 10, at Aylen Junior High School.
The public is
invited to attend the meeting and join in the honoring the outstanding
athletes.
Congratulations
