For
the second consecutive year, Communities In Schools of Puyallup (CISP)
has been honored as one of five nominees for an annual “Rising Star”
award presented by the Puyallup-Sumner Chamber of Commerce.
The
chamber presented CISP Executive Director Jan Mauk with a certificate
of recognition in December and announced the organization as one of this
year’s five nominees for "Nonprofit of the Year."
The
chamber announced the winner of this year’s award, Helping Hand House,
at its annual Rising Star Awards Breakfast on January 14.
The
other three nominees for the Nonprofit of the Year award were Exodus
Housing, Communities for Families in the Sumner School District, and
Good Samaritan Hospital MultiCare Health System.
CISP
partners with the Puyallup School District to help students succeed by
coordinating services such as one-on-one tutoring. It also coordinates
annual events such as March Gladness community service projects and
back-to-school supply drives.
